The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has renewed its contract with DesignHammer, for the 2006 calendar year. DesignHammer will provide development, maintenance, and hosting services to the Career-Technical Education (CTE) division of DPI. DesignHammer has provided these services to CTE (formerly known as Workforce Development Education) since 2002.
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is the agency charged with implementing the State’s public school laws and the State Board of Education’s policies and procedures governing pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public education, including the Standard Course of Study which describes the subjects and course content that should be taught in North Carolina public schools and develops the assessments and accountability model used to evaluate school and district success.
Career-Technical Education is one of the eleven Curriculum Areas in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. In North Carolina, CTE is organized in grades 6-12 in the public school system. The program begins with exploratory courses and leads to specialized classroom instruction in grades 11 and 12.
